8 Courts 1 Collectif

CONTENT WILL BE UPDATED SOON

La Biennale de Montréal 2009 presents 8 Courts 1 Collectif [8courts1collectif.com], a cinematographic project created under the general theme of the 6th edition, Open Culture.

8 Courts 1 Collectif is an open source cinema initiative curated and coordinated by Michèle Gauthier and Claudine Tissier, which gathers 8 up-and-coming Montreal filmmakers: Michèle Gauthier, Benjamin Gueguen, Ahn Minh Truong, Yan Giroux, Sophie Goyette, Alexandre Gibault, Abeille Tard and Guy Édouin.

These filmakers directed a series of 8 short films based on content provided by the public via a website over the course of one year. Participants were invited to fill out an online personality test the results of which made up the films' main protagonist's personality traits: a young artist in her twenties, unstable, fearing of being ordinary or to be forgotten. Eight actresses played the same role, but in a different way, depending on the vision of each filmaker. The short films were edited in a collaborative sequence that brings multiple points of view from common elements.

8 Courts 1 Collectif is co-produced by INIS - Institut national de l'image et du son and co-presented by the Cinémathèque québécoise [cinematheque.qc.ca].
