Soundscapes
CONTENT WILL BE UPDATED SOON
Within the Open Source context, La Biennale de Montréal 2009 gives a prominent place to Open Music, through an initiative curated by Claudio Marzano and Scott Clyke.
Soundscapes is a platform for musical conversation sparked by a single painting, Rick Leong's [rickleong.carbonmade.com] Dancing Serpent in Dawn's Quiet (2006). Composer and pianist David Ryshpan [myspace.com/davidryshpan] opened the discourse with a soundtrack inspired by Leong's otherworldly landscape, with the participation of :
David Ryshpan (compositeur et piano) [myspace.com/davidryshpan]
Mario Allard (saxophone alto et flûte) [myspace.com/marioallardquintet]
Ben Henriques (saxophones soprano et ténor) [benhenriques.ca] + [myspace.com/responsibilityclub]
Gary Schwartz (guitare)
Scott Kingsley (contrebasse)
Philippe Melanson (batterie) [youtube.com/watch?v=8vZTMiwZyM0]
Then, the partition made available online to musicians and producers from around the world, inviting them to reinterpret the score as they wish. [www.biennalemontreal.org/soundscapes]
These remixes will be revealed on May 1st as part of an exhibition at the École Bourget featuring new work by Leong inspired by the music and at [biennalemontreal.org/soundscapes].
